Construction projects managed by Structure Tone’s Washington, DC office received awards from the International Interior Design Association. Entries were judged for originality of design, use of color and overall functionality.

Structure Tone restored a more than 100-year old building in New York City. The building received LEED Gold certification and now offers 21st century amenities.

Structure Tone, construction manager, was presented a historic renovation award by the New York Landmarks Conservancy for the St. Patrick’s Cathedral project. The project includes restoration of the Cathedral, Cardinal’s House and Rectory.

The Cathedral of Hope project, managed by Structure Tone Southwest, was awarded the National Eagle Award in Construction at ABC’s Annual Excellence in Construction Awards ceremony. The event honors the nation’s highest quality construction projects.

Construction manager, Pavarini, managed the of the out-of-ground construction and interior fit-out of Borelli Hall, the new LEED certified educational facility at St. Thomas Aquinas College.

Jim Donaghy, chairman of Structure Tone, was awarded the ICSF Award that honors philanthropic business leaders. The night not only celebrated Jim and the vital work of ICSF, but also the 40th anniversaries of the two organizations.

Construction workers and executives from GlaxoSmithKline (GSK), Liberty Property Trust, and L.F. Driscoll (construction manager) signed and hoisted the final beam of Five Crescent Drive during the Topping Out ceremony in December 2011. The 205,000sf, four-story facility, designed by Robert A.M. Stern Architects, is located in the Navy Yard Corporate Center of Philadelphia.

Columbia University broke ground on the new 47,700sf Campbell Sports Center at Baker Athletic Complex, and team members from Structure Tone New York and Pavarini McGovern were there for the ceremonious event. The five-story facility, designed by Stephen Holl Architects, has been designed to achieve a minimum of LEED Silver certification

The recently completed Denbury Resources and Cathedral of Hope Interfaith Peace Chapel, both located within the Dallas-Fort Worth metroplex, were honored with Best of Awards by ENR Texas & Louisiana.

HOK’s newly constructed 34,000sf LEED Platinum office, managed by Structure Tone, won the Best of Award for Interior Design/Tenant Improvement in ENR New York’s annual competition. Our firm not only successfully constructed the project, but impressed the distinguished judges in our approach and delivery of the modern, functional office at 1065 Avenue of the Americas in New York City for HOK, a global architectural firm.

The Wistar Institute recent broke ground on a $100 million research tower located on 36th and Spruce Streets in Philadephia. L.F. Driscoll is managing the construction of the 89,700sf, glass-fronted structure designed by Ballinger (architect).

Designed to achieve LEED certification, Structure Tone Southwest and the team of consultants worked with our financial services client to build a lean, energy efficient data center (www.structuretone.com/missioncritical33) without compromising the computing needs of the institution, and ultimately achieve LEED Silver certification.

On October 14, UNIQLO opened its largest global flagship in the world—UNIQLO New York Fifth Avenue at 666 5th Avenue at 53rd Street. The 89,000sf store is the largest single retailer on Fifth Avenue, brining Japan’s most popular retailer to the international fashion capital of the world—New York.

Structure Tone Southwest-Dallas staff joined forces with Gensler to renovate the arts and crafts room for the Boys & Girls Club in Dallas. The project was managed by Structure Tone Southwest and designed by Gensler (architect) at no cost to the club.

Structure Tone Lyndhurst staff put all vanity aside and participated in a head-shaving event to support the St. Baldrick's Foundation, a non-profit organization devoted to finding cures and funding research for childhood cancers. The high-spirited event, in which participants collect pledges to shave their heads in solidarity with kids with cancer, took place in West Orange, NJ and was hosted by The Friendly Sons of the Shillelagh.

Jennifer Taranto, LEED AP and Structure Tone’s director of sustainability, lent her expertise and co-presented “Cost Impacts of Sustainable Laboratory Design” at the Labs21 Annual Conference with Taylor Boyd, PE, CCE, senior associate and chief estimator of KlingStubbins. The event, which took place in Providence, RI this year, is the largest gathering of sustainable laboratory professionals in the nation.

In the spirit of community and supporting local charitable organizations, Structure Tone Southwest—Dallas was proud to be part of a team for the Parade of Playhouses. The annual event raises awareness for Dallas CASA (Court Appointed Special Advocates), a non-profit organization that supports abused and neglected children in protective care so they have the chance to become successful adults.

Structure Tone staff recently attended the 29th Annual Race Against MS at Belmont Park Race Track for a spectacular day filled with thoroughbred racing along with a silent and live auction to support the National Multiple Sclerosis Society. The event, which benefited The New York City—Southern New York Chapter of the MS Society, was sponsored by Structure Tone, Atlas-Acon Electric Service Corporation, Platinum Maintenance and Vornado Realty Trust.

Structure Tone’s Boston office recently managed construction of Ropes & Gray’s LEED Gold headquarters at Prudential Tower. The 475,000sf office received an Award of Excellence—Best Practice from IFMA Boston as well as an Award of Excellence—Best Workplace from CoreNet Global New England Chapter.

Projects Denbury Resources and Cathedral of Hope Interfaith Peace Chapel were presented Outstanding Construction Awards by Associated General Contractors (AGC) Texas Building Branch. Both projects also received TEXO Distinguished Building Awards

Eric Spencer Hage, LEEDŽ AP, has been named director of business development for Structure Tone Southwest in Dallas. Mr. Hage will lead new business pursuits and client development for Structure Tone in the greater Dallas/Fort Worth area.

United Way of NYC (UWNYC)held its annual Gridiron Gala at the Waldorf Astoria in New York City and Tony Carvette, president, Structure Tone, co-chaired the high-spirited event with Joe Cabrera, executive vice president, Cushman & Wakefield; Robert Friedman, senior managing director, The Blackstone Group; and Robert Kueppers, deputy chief executive officer, Deloitte. Attended by New York Giants and New York Jets players, the evening raised more than $2 million to support United Way programs that help New York City at-risk youth.

Structure Tone earned an honorable mention at the 18th Annual Metro NY/NJ CMAA Awards Banquet for its success in delivering a new 34,000sf LEED Platinum office at 1065 Avenue of the Americas in New York City for HOK, a global architectural firm.

Robert Mullen, chief executive officer, Structure Tone, received the Corporate Leadership Award, presented by F∙E∙G∙S Health and Human Services System at its 10th annual Partnerships for a Changing World Benefit Dinner at Cipriani 42nd Street in New York City.

L.F. Driscoll is the proud recipient of the Liberty Award, an annual award presented by The Liberty Chapter of Philadelphia to an individual or organization that demonstrates excellence in the area of building safety. Ken Innella, vice president, accepted the honor on behalf of L.F. Driscoll.

Lending their professional construction expertise, Structure Tone’s Dennis Murray, Dan Finnegan, Harold Maierle and Peter Walshe participated in the ACE (www.acementor.org) (Architects, Constructors, Engineers) Mentor Program of Greater New York and mentored a team of 20 high school students to the final round of presentations. ACE Team 8’s project, Aquilla Villa, was presented to a distinguished panel of Construction Industry Roundtable (CIRT) members in Washington, DC.

Honoring project teams who best exemplify ConocoPhillips’ (www.conocophillips.com) high standards of performance, Structure Tone Southwest’s Matt Mazurek, Britt McKinney and David Angelo were presented with a SPIRIT of Performance Award for their work on the Transportation Control Center project. The annual awards recognize those who demonstrate excellence in Safety, People, Integrity, Responsibility, Innovation and Teamwork.

TEXO, the construction association representing commercial contractors in North and East Texas, presented projects Denbury Resources and Cathedral of Hope with Distinguished Building Awards. Projects were evaluated on level of complexity, innovative construction techniques, final appearance and timeliness of completion.

Peter Thaler, LEED AP, has been named director of operations for Structure Tone in Washington, DC. Mr. Thaler has overall management, technical, safety and quality responsibility for Structure Tone projects performed in the region encompassing Washington, DC; Virginia; and Maryland.

Myron A. Gee has been named vice president of operations for Structure Tone Southwest in Dallas. Mr. Gee will have overall management, technical, safety and quality responsibility for Structure Tone projects performed by the firm in the greater Dallas/Fort Worth area.

Ronald Bowman has joined Structure Tone as executive vice president, ST Tech Services. Ron will be responsible for leading Structure Tone’s mission critical building efforts. With nearly 30 years domestic and international experience, Ron has over 200 data centers to his credit and has consulted on or built data centers, trading floors and energy facilities throughout the US, Canada, South America, Europe and Asia.

In honor of Earth Day, Jennifer Taranto, LEED AP, Structure Tone’s Director of Sustainability and Chair of the Board of Directors for the U.S. Green Building Council’s Massachusetts Chapter, participated in an evening of educating people on how to live an organic life. Hosted at the New York Junior League headquarters in New York City, Jenn offered ideas on how to incorporate sustainability practices into one’s home and workplace.

Serving as chairman for more than a decade for Friends of Saint Dominic’s, John T. White, partner of Structure Tone, recently attended the nonprofit organization’s 30th annual Business & Labor Awards Dinner. Saint Dominic’s Home provides foster boarding homes, adoption, special needs education and community-based services and residences for people with mental illness or developmental disabilities in Bronx, Rockland and Westchester Counties.

As a leading laboratory construction specialist, Structure Tone's Steve Neeson, VP Operations and Jerry Guillorn, VP Sector Development - in collaboration with long time colleagues from Pfizer, JT Collaborative, Genesis Engineers and Flad Associates - conducted the highly interactive seminar Real Time Project: Build a Lab at the 2010 ISPE conference in November.

Team "The Structure Tones" topped the competition at the MS Brain Games hosted by the New York City and Southern New York Chapters of the National Multiple Sclerosis Society. The event raised $500,000 for programs and services provided by the chapters for people affected by multiple sclerosis.
